The group investigates neural correlates of disturbances of cognitive functioning due to brain tumors and the related surgery. In addition, the work also has major implications for the surgery procedure itself, as well as for the general understanding of the observed cognitive disturbances. First, the advanced neuroimaging procedures help to delineate critical structures for cognitive and motor function that need to be preserved during surgery. Secondly, electrophysiological recordings can be performed from these structures during the surgery in order to further elucidate their function. The work will be done in close collaboration with the Department of Behavioral Neurology.
