Dear PhDs, PostDocs and interested members,

Save the Date: 06/15 4 pm (online)

5# Career Talk with Dr. Alessandro Confettura (Scientific Study Manager, EUROIMMUN, Lübeck/Germany) (English)

Topic: TRANSITION TO INDUSTRY – WHAT I WISH I HAD KNOWN IN ADVANCE

About our guest: Alessandro Confettura studied Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Università di Catania (Italy). He worked as PhD at LIN until December 2019 where he investigated the molecular mechanism of synaptic plasticity in cultured neurons and in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease and neuroinflammation. Then he attended the course on Clinical Trials Management, followed by a trainee program on Medical and Scientific Affairs at PAREXEL. Since February 2021, he has been working as Scientific Study Manager for neurodegenerative and autoimmune neurological diseases at EUROIMMUN.

About the Career Talk: He will reflect on his PhD phase at LIN, discuss why and how he did the trainee course at PAREXEL and how he started at EUROIMMUN. Questions include: How was the time as a trainee? What would he have liked to know beforehand in the PhD to make it easier to get into industry? What is the day-to-day life like? What were challenges and what helped?
